Went out on last Monday and it came back to life again Abdul was still working when I parked up.
My two thoughts are either some loose connection or the module in the aerial fin has a dry soldered connection.

Mine's still AWOL... currently thinking its 20 miles away.
I've emailed around the breakers for a shark-fin antennal, lets see if I can pickup a used one and swap them.. I'm desperately hoping that's the fault as I really dont fancy trying to change a head unit. |

I find the built in Volvo satnav pretty rubbish - save yourself some hassle and buy a decent quality tomtom (garmin etc), which will be easier to update the maps*, have infinitely better traffic reports, and will be generally easier to use.
*assuming you get one with lifetime map updates, as mine does.

Thanks for the info.
Just an update it keeps going in and out. We are on the way back from Cornwall today and it worked twice on the M5 but has gone again. The car was in a dealers in early June but asods law prevailed and it was working. We use Google maps on our phones and have occasionally had to get a paper map out. I still think it is a loose connection somewhere or a dry joint on a board probably in the aerial.
