DOH! Ordered Osram Halogen Ultralife from ebay last night before going out. As I'm planning to replace both while I'm at it will it make any difference??

Cheers and thanks for the info. AG

If your car has HID's then the halogen won't fit.

Hi Marmite, I looked at the photo that Jason attached and thought it looked like mine, however on closer examination there are subtle differences, so maybe mine are Halogen after all. I've attached a couple of photos of mine that may help:

It's difficult to tell, Hid & H7 halogen/xenon fitting are not compatible.
Halogen gas gives the yellowish light whereas xenon gas gives a whiter light.
If your car does not have HID,s then either halogen or xenon bulbs with ( I think) the H7 fitting will do.
Is the O/S bulb connector easy to get to, might be worth a look.

Good thinking. I'll see what I can do with the o/s light, but it doesn't look a lot easier. As I've ordered the Osrams now I think I might as well take it all apart when they arrive and see what's actually fitted.

Always got the wife's Golf...............

Thanks for the input. Cheers. AG

Hello AG,you might be lucky as they look like halogen.

Hi Jason, to be honest I don't know. As there is a manual adjustment for them on the panel then I suspect not, but as I don't tow heavy loads I've never touched it. I think I'll just have to take it all apart and hope for the best......

Cheers. AG.

Update: all sorted, no problems taking bumper off and headlamp out, no way I could have done it without doing that. Many thanks to all who helped out.

Cheers

Thanks to Marmitespreader for the incredible file of instructions on this job, replacing bulbs in the headlight on an XC70. Mine is 2005, and has lost the n/s dipped beam bulb. Halfords in Inverness could not work out how to replace it - he didn't spend long at it - I don't blame him.

I can't open the additional info on bulb replacement that came with Marmite's instructions, maybe cos the original posts were 9 years ago (?) but can someone tell me if it is possible to change the dipped beam bulb by removing the filter cover and getting into the light unit that way? It is the xenon type bulb, judging by XC70 Jason's pic - very helpful thanks.

Any help very gratefully received. MOT coming up on Monday and I have to tow the sawmill out for work on Wednesday so it would be great if I can do this bulb change over the weekend

Thanks. Forty
