Sunny Bournemouth - definitely try the injector seals on your car, it sorted out the lumpy idle on mine !

Ah neat! Not too far from me I'm just south of Salisbury. I know of a 240GLT locally to me, which the chap has had since new... It's his deceased wifes car, but he never uses it if I remember rightly. Silver like my GL. We'll have to organise a 240 meet up sometime perhaps!

In terms of lumpy idle, it was the seals. So I'll get on the interweb now and order 4 new ones.. Trying to find a part number for them. Would anyone have a link to the appropriate part? I can't seem to find any.

Back to front wheel bearings, as they're tapered, can you not adjust them? Dad thinks instead of splashing out £100 odd on new bearings you could adjust them... Anyone clarify this?

Tim

Did a post on front wheel bearings back in March this year, they are easy to fit, you will probably find that you can tighten up your current ones as 244T post.
You might need a press if you replaced the bearing races which fit into the hub , but not always necessary. Nice Car !

I'll dig your post out, see what I can find and see where it can help me. Thank you!

Cheers, not your average 17 year olds car haha! Almost 18 soon, so, waiting until then which is only a month away to get insurance... I save £400 if I wait so!

You probably already know Tim, there are two seals per injector, so make sure you do both. Try your friendly Volvo dealer, they are cheap parts and you'll get the right ones !

I've got onto the 'Volvo Owners UK' Facebook page, been advised about mrinjector.co.uk, and have sent him an email asking for help. Apparently he's very helpful so I shall see what he says I know one seal is thin, and one seal looks like a fat doughnut.. That's all I know about the seals for now however!

Ordered the big fat 'doughnut' type seals, but apparently he can't stock the other thinner seal. Anyone got a link to this? I've rung up my local independent Volvo garage and they don't stock them either. They were quite surprised when I asked whether they had spares for a 1987 Volvo...!

I got mine over the counter at the main stealer here in Vannes. Look up user Rufe on here . He is a parts supplier at main dealer FRF Volvo in Wales. He does send out parts in the mail and does discount for the forum. Search for FRF Volvo on here

I guess those thin ones will be the ones that really need changing, but best to do them all
