Yes it is a menace (borderline dangerous) if you drive an auto and it get's turned off on every journey I make. It cuts the engine while you are in D if you are braking but before you come to a complete stop. So in slow moving traffic it re-starts immediately if you go back on the power sometimes before the flywheel has stopped spinning causing a graunch noise as the starter solenoid re-engages too early in the teeth. Crud design application on the auto (should have mimicked the manual and only operated if you shift to N or P or put handbrake on.

I thought it was the small battery that controlled the stop start function.
The aux battery lasts forever just about .
You need to charge the main battery but overnight is not enough ,
You need to remove it from the car and use a variable DC Power supply set to 15.2 Volts and current limited to say 5 amps and leave it on continuously for at least 48 hours to desulphate it . give it a go ... saves buying a new battery , volvo batteries are good value and the correct one of course.

Am I correct in saying, in a queue of traffic slow moving 7mph or less , stop/start does not work.

In an auto if you are braking the engine can stop while the car is still moving (at maybe 2mph) and will then re-start as soon as you lift off the brake. It's really annoying and effectively causes a stall at roundabouts. Well once per journey anyway until I remember to turn the damn thing off.

Yes I’m a manual box , stop/start is not engaged until hand brake is applied and neutral selected.

Wot he said

The way to beat it is while braking not go full potato on the pedal, just use enough lightly to bring the car to a halt and it won't cut out,

The thing that gets me more is if you slightly lift while stopped the engine fires back up and won't go off again until you've moved first,

To add to Clans info, make sure you have a charger that's smart and for AGM, use the front battery to charge from by going red to positive and black to the threaded nut holding the fuse box, don't charge from the boot battery and never use rapid charging, I'm going all in on a Ctek tomorrow, it's dearer than most others but has a proper working descale function, something the returned Ring one said it had but never showed any evidence it actually did anything, hth.

Or press the button to turn it off.

Not sure which Ctek you are looking at but I have one of these which seems to do the job ok:

Not decided yet, either the 5 or the 7 model.
