  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Checked with my dad and he does still have some early auto boxes about.

Nice! I got the 245 back yesterday. The mounting brackets had dropped, so nothing tooooo serious. Still cost a bit, but not dead-gearbox prices.
I'm a bit freaked out over the whole experience now though - the mechanic had said had it been the gearbox, I'd have been looking at 1500 - 2000 euros. Yikes. How much would one of your gearboxes sell for then?

You could have stuck the car on the boat and had it fitted for less than that! 4 hour job to swap the box if you take your time.

Ha! Is it worth me doing a pre-emptive gearbox swap you think? Or is that a how long is a piece of string question....

If there are no problems with the gearbox there is no point in changing it. Just keep on top of ATF changes and use good quality oil and they will last.
