I remember a Top Gear challenge to somewhere very snowy where they ran with very soft tyres. I'm not sure how low the pressure was but it looked like 15-20 psi.
Ok, I see.

Thanks

Any views on Pirelli Zero Scorpions?

I've been offered 4 x 18" set fitted at £666.

Default Tyres xc90

Yes I have also used General Grabber UHPs on my XC90 and they lasted over 24000miles over 2 years. (Can be verified by Hutton Bros - Volvo Independant, Slingsby N Yorkshire). The Vehicle 05/05 D5SE GEARTRONIC with 68000 miles. - Well actually I changed back to a new shape V70 just last week - from Hutton Brothers.

Just wondering what the recommendations are for a good summer tyre on 18"rims?

I'll be using Nokians on 17s for the winter as they were excellent last year, but I'm keen to make the switch now to a set of summer wheels.

General Grabber AT 235/65 R17 108 H XL BSW

Just fitted these, as some of you may remember I've been on the lookout for a set of 17" wheels for a while. Now my 18's (Volvo Alloy) still have a fair amount of tread left (4mm I think) on continental's, slight damage (scuff here and there) , (well they have done 130,000miles over six years!) so I wonder... should I keep them and use them when the good weather comes (if!) (they aqua-planed on the M25 last week) or sell sell sell, if I sell what might they be worth?

I think most people are using their winter tyres all year round without a problem. However the General Grabber UHP is a popular choice.

The Scorpions should be fine. They are popular on Land Rover/Range Rover models.

Keep us posted.
