Had ours a month MY12 d3 resign prim. and only thing i've found is the car seems ergonomically designed to be an auto. As in manual form there is no foot rest or anywhere to put your left foot. ( and if your foot is even slightly rested on the clutch pedal the cruise control wont come on ) and the gear stick feels a hands length too far back. Or maybe i'm just a div, But to begin with when i took my hand off the wheel to where i would expect it to be i would grab at thin air! Makes the wife laugh though!
We got 20" wheels and with r-design susp on hulls roads it can be enough to spill your tea! But omg it goes round corners!
Premium sound with subs well worth the extra too, sound heaven!

I have only had the XC 60 for 10 months, but so far have driven over 12000 miles. A very nice car, the auto is seamless. The handbrake could be better positioned but there is always something you don't like on a car. This is the best I have had.

Driving over Dartmoor last weekend over the hills I felt the auto box was a bit jerky changing down from 3rd to 2nd.

I would like to see the top gear with a higher ratio. My Zafira did 1750rpm at 70mph whereas the Volvo is 2000rpm.

Just being picky really, otherwise a great car.

Thumbs down Active bending lights

I have been generally happy with my SE LUX D5 MY 2010 which was one of the firsts 2wd versions delivered in the UK in summer 2009. It has had three recalls so far but apart from that has been comfortable and reliable.

The one thing which drives me crazy when driving in Europe is that the active bending head lights which can be switched from the control menu to LHD default back to RHD everytime the ignition is turned off. These means that you have to go through the whole menu process to get back to the correct location to change the lights each time you stop at a level crossing opening bridge or whatever to make the car Europe legal again. My dealer cannot help, Lisa Peacock in Volvo Customer Services says that no on else has complained so it will not be changed. Volvo Sweden won't do a software update as they say Lisa Peacock says it's unneccessary.

Looks like this will be the last of my line of 12 Volvos!!!

I was actually going to post about this having returned from holiday in France.

Having read various other posts earlier about the behaviour you described, I was expecting to have to reset to RHD on every start. But it turned out my MY11.5 lights stayed in RHD mode for the entire 2 weeks. There was a warning message on each start which had to be acknowledged by pressing the button on the end of the left-hand stalk.

So it looks like Volvo have listened to owners' criticisms. But you may have to "upgrade" to a later model to get the feature.

Thanks but I have already told Volvo that I am looking elsewhere after 35 years! Audi have the lights linked to the sat nav so that they automatically adjust - can't believe that Sweden (China) can't do that too!! And anyway it only needs a minor software adjustment to fix mine! Earlier this year I took the car in to a Volvo dealer in Holland and they said they could get it done in a couple of weeks, too long for me though.

That sort of comment makes me think I've joined the wrong forum! I thought this was meant to be for serious discussions about Volvos?

The user's manual for my XC70 2012 says I can set my lamps for UK, should I go there, but the setting isn't in the menu system in the car.
Makes me wonder if they now think cars sold here in Sweden are too far from the UK to ever venture there?
