I guess my wee mini falls into this category now, 100k miles, 60k in my ownership and yup, its a bit more clattery on cold mornings, and somethings don't feel as 'new' as they did. It was always my intention to keep it till the meat falls off its bones but my wee score with the clutch really had me thinking, time to get rid then other week. Then reality bit. I know the car. I know how it's been treated over the last four years. Buying something else is a leap into the unknown. So, its back to preventative servicing and bring on 120, 150, 200k miles. I'll buy something to go with it in a year or so, but sometimes it's better the devil you know!!

'Wrong thread' says baggy next to a photo of his good looking 940, I think I can guess which way he voted in this poll
Just been looking analytically at my V70, it needs a new cambelt and my local garage quoted me £610, now I could keep her going by just winging it until the belt breaks, or have the belt replaced, or I could pass her on to my son's friend who wants a big old Volvo and could do the belt himself, and then I'd spend substantially more on a newer car. Just can't make my mind up at the moment.

Few things need doing to it this year. Clutch master cylinder, exhaust backbox, brake fluid change.
Need to fix this rust on the arches.😢 Compared to an equivalent Granada, Carlton, or Merc from the 90s, that's not too bad though.😂

George, each to their own but when I had my maroon S60 it had cream leather interior and a light matching dashboard. I very nearly didn't buy it due to that BUT it turned out to be great to live with, The cabin always felt light and airy and it was remarkably easy to keep clean. Just a thought.😉

To the last two posters, ya like what ya like. Not for me and a bugger to keep clean!! A lighter interior in a 'sunday' car is fine, but for one that will be used for an everyday work machine...doesn't compute for me! Each to their own. My lexus had a light interior and I adored that car, but nobody was allowed in it dirty!!
Always feel saloons have been better looked after than esteted anyway, owned an s80d5 manual previously and it was a brilliant car. |

I wenr to get some tyres for the wife's car on Wednesday and got chatting with one of the other customers and a couple of the fitters, the other customer has a BMW with white leather seats, and the fitter commented on how good it looks and how does he keep it clean? He said he rarely drives it to save getting it grubby, to which the fitter, covered in brake dust and tyre grime, said 'so not a car for me then!'
