All the best, sounds like an interesting project.

Default which firmware updates

Hi, I've been reading this thread with great interest but I am none the wiser as to which progressive DVD i need to get to update the firmware on my MMM/P2001 system. it runs from the DVD disc
I've got the 2014 disc but my DVD player wont read it. took it to bits and cleaned it, works fine with original disc . its a 2004 XC90 T6 with the above type of system. Tried all the copies but none will read.
Never been upgraded and still runs from the original Volvo DVD.
Does anyone know which firmware update discs I need i.e 2006 and 2010 before my DVD player will read Dual layer format dvds , and then hopefully I can get it to work with newer maps.

ps. also tried downloading and burning using imgburn

hope someone can help

Thank you

I found that you need a DVD burner that can set the book type of the disc to DVD-ROM or the reader knows it's not an original disc and won't play along.

I have a 2008 XC90 D5 Executive, with the built-in SatNav screen on dashboard and DVD/Hard Disk under passenger seat.

The S/W Part No & Version are 031285426 & 00001286/02380;
Map Part No & Version : 31260919 & AEU_06_200801E

This is the one with the crazy 4 character postcode search!

Can this be upgraded to the full postcode search?

Yes it can, looks like you have the original 2008 maps. I updated mine (on an '07) and have full postcode search. I replied to your other thread. You just need newer HDD RTI discs.

I am about to update my RTI navigation system with the Volvo RTI 2014 MMM/P2001 Maps 3 DVDs for my Volvo XC90 (2006).

My questions are:
  • since my country is listed on the 3rd DVD (Dvd C), should I put the 3rd Dvd first or start the update procedure with Dvd1 (Andorra, etc.)? I'm asking because I've read that the car must be geolocalized.
  • I have burnt (x4 speed!) the first disk to a dual layer DVD+ and the other two disks to DVD-. Now I've read that DVDs should be burnt to DVD-.
    Does it really matter?

Thanks.

Hello - and thanks for a great forum and thread!

I understand that this may be reviving an old half-dead topic, but does anyone have a decent link to provide where one can download the files for this update?

I've found various download sites that, well...I'm not downloading an .exe file and taking my chances . Maybe someone might even have these files locally *gasp*.

Of course my intent is merly to provide a safe haven for a copy of _your_ investment, HDD crashes and lost data are so common these days.

Just get a copy off eBay. I got mine from a guy in Italy and it saves all the hassle of trying to copy on to a DVD as it seems a lot of people had trouble.
