Good evening to all,Just had a call from the "ECU Doctor",the ecu of the car has a fault in the circuit to the Crankshaft sensor ("Circuit Blown").With a bit of luck that should be case closed. Will confirm that when i am actually driving around in the car. Thanks for all the encoraging comments,i now see light at the end of the tunnel.Reguards to all.

Try the Cam position sensor - if that's gone, there will be no spark, no fuel. Gather it's a common weakness - certainly caught me out

he has tried that reading through the posts, the cam sensor should not stop the car running but put the car in pre-set values/limp home and put the EMS light on ,although a crank sensor will stop the car running as I believe the fault was found in the test on his ECU.

Sharing your pain - hoping for success
Hi,
I too have been down a similar path. Replaced fuel pump relay, plugs, air filter, battery - distributor ( had a hairline crack , thought we had solved problem !!!! ) rotor arm and finally the camshaft sensor. Seemed okay but now back to square one. Thought physical connection at camshaft sensor connecting plug maybe a problem ( corroded )? Awaiting your ECU being fitted. Good luck Eikeeg 1998 V70, 10v, 2ltr, 141k |

Good Evening to all,Well its taken me the best part of today to calm down.I took my "rebuilt" ECU £186 into the Garage today, the fitter put it in the car and turned it over NOTHING,i realy thought after being told it was probably an ECU problem (even by the people who rebuilt it)that the car would have started.Realy disapointed. I have left it with them for "further analysis".
Dont have a clue and suspect the "Volvo Specialists"are in the same boat.
