As mine have studs they are not good on dry roads... have to be careful not to wear the studs out so I can´t drive "fun" at all, and they are also very soft. Kick-ass on snow and ice though!

Don't have studs but the Nokian WRG2's are fantastic in terms of grip in the wet and cold. When average temperature increases above 7 degrees will get the summer ones on. The wear on the Nokians has been average. I would guess I've covered 7K miles in them and fronts are 50% worn and about 25% worn on the rear. Might swap them round this week to get even wear for next winter.

Winter tyres in summer conditions is dangerous! The softer rubber becomes jelly in summer termperatures! Norwegian authorities are concidering to pass a law against it. Tests conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation show that if a car with winter tyres and one with summer tyres make a full force brake from 60 mph, the winter tyred car will still be doing 35 mph when the first has come to a full stop! The winter tyred car used 37 yds more to stop!. Now, imagine what cornering performance was like..
Tests performed in 20C / 68F.

Darb, if you find yourself with a spare couple of hundred hours, there are many long discussions about winter vs summer vs all weather tyres on various threads on this forum. Although, it's all gone very quiet since we have returned to a more 'normal' winter in Jan/Feb (and positively mild in the SE).

PS great photos VolvoXC60, you should be working for Volvo's marketing team!
