Kwik Fit charged £49 for the regas and £20 for the anti bacterial clean. Bit more than Halfords I think, but Kwik Fit are just down the road form us and could do it straight away.

I'm based in Torquay and Paignton for a few weeks work if we all fancy a "club" beers session!

Flash if you see me around, dark green 850 with rear chevrons.

Well I have had a good scrub on the interior today and it's looking much better, I'm very pleased.

I picked up a pair of new number plates also, because I didn't want the disgusting EU stars of repression on my car... so I now have shiny new plates with the St Georges cross proudly on display.

I do however seem to have a new problem.

A metallic knocking from the front o/s wheel whilst going over bumps and pot holes.
I suspect Tie rods/ ends?

I haven't actually got under the car yet admittedly, but I was planning on replacing them anyway as they must be due, so is there a preferred make?

Could be a number of things but drop links would be favourite on a statistical basis, they go fairly regularly on these. Buy the best you can, I think Meyle ones are pretty good. Easy job too.

I have a receipt for the drop links being replaced in January, so I can rule that out (I hope).

Apart from these niggly things, the car is fab though!

Wow it's been a while since I last updated!

Anyway... the car is currently with my mechanic having the clutch changed.
At the same time he's doing the drop links, inner/outer rack ends, and couple of other little jobs.

It's going to come back a new car!

I hope so anyway.. it's costing a bomb!

Worth getting him to change the crank seal while he's in there, the part is only pennies but when it goes (and they do) you have to take the whole lot apart again to get at it, which is £££ in labour as you'll know.

Don't worry about spending on the car, these are worth it and it'll repay you.

Cheers!

The crank seal is one of the 'other little bits' being done as he's there.
Thanks for the advice though, atleast I know I'm not missing vital parts.

The car is sound, and in excellent knick (a part from the bloody door cards still) so it's defo worth spending the money I think.

I can't wait to drive her when she's done though, gunna be quite a differemce I expect.

And no screaming when pulling away in first gear!!!
