Default It's official I've changed vote to YES

Cancelled the Autosocks, well I tried but they're inundated with orders apparently.

New wheels and tyres ordered, through the Volvo scheme not the cheapest way of doing it but I’ve outfitted myself for the winter even grown a beard to combat the cold.

So it all makes logical sense to go the whole hog and get the car prepared too. Fitting Dec 20th for the first time I’m hoping to get more snow to test them.

Teejay,

Thanks, were they £1,350 incl VAT for all 4?

Different dealers = different quotes!

Cheers Buck

4 Segin alloys so, 17" with Conti 4x4 winters fitted, balanced, valved and vat included for 1340. Other chap got Pirellis for same price. I wanted the continentals think I got a better deal other dealer wanted 1408 for same setup

Segin are in short supply I have to wait for them. Checked with insurer no extra.

Nokian tyres should arrive tomorrow with any luck and by sounds of things there will be pleny of sub sub zero temperatures and snow to put them to the test.

I must have taken thousands of miles of wear off the summer tyres in the last week spinning in the snow and ice.

I can only describe driving along the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh as going through mud ruts on a frosty and hard farmers field. God knows what damage has been done to the suspension recently only time will tell.

Default Bad winter technique causes DPF problems

Apologies to those that still don't want winter tyres but I feel I'm becoming a bit of an evangelist, even before I've fitted them ;-)

A quote taken from The Telegraph
"With its low-ratio option and 170bhp diesel engine, the doughty Yeti almost managed to butt its way through the banks of snow but, at the top of the drive, its diesel particulate filter clogged up."

Not sure if this is something that many have thought about.
