More miles down to Nottingham. Lovely casual drive at 57mph in the sun watching the hills alongside the M1 roll by.

Got my car back today with a new valve cover gasket and a new camshaft seal. No more oil leaks

Operation respray is a go, well, in the morning anyway. I have successfully engineered things at work using the powers of suggestion "no let's not put that there, it would be better stored in a different place" stuff like that, which means there's now a lovely big space in the workshop for the car.

I did the vast majority of the filling this evening, 9 parking dings and dents in total plus the bumper, I looked along and around the car at all sorts of angles, then spotted a small door opening against it kind of line just near the filler cap as I locked up, bugger it, oh well, I'll fill that and then rub all the other bits down, by the time I've done that and made a few cups of coffee that'll be ready to sand.

I have a heated workshop, a DA sander, pads ranging from 240 to 800, some 800 sheets for fiddly bits, 20l of panel wipe, many rags, sheeting up plastic, some sheeting paper and lots of masking tape, I'm all set

Finally had some spare time this evening so I did what THREE reputable mechanics (one who has been working exclusively on Volvos for 35 years and has every relevant certification/title you could imagine) couldn't and identified the source of a horrible whining noise coming from passenger side of car.

One of the mechanics actually told me I was "imagining things" which I found VERY insulting so I told him to **** off. Can't wait to show him this video.

More details in the video information

I wish i had your skills sir! I fear Sven will need a respray in order to improve things and with 13 months MOT it'd be rude not to look after it

Oh this is quite the ghetto respray, it's grafitti paint, certainly not the correct thing really but it covers really well, comes in loads of colours and dries in about 5 minutes, plus the 12 cans plus wide nozzles cost barely 30 quid, it was a no brainer.

Here's some examples, there was once a pic of a Nissan Silvia in a lovely red orange pearl colour but I can't find it anymore.

It has begun!

Slightly orange peely (no pun intended haha) but it comes out of the can like old school hammerite, its exceedingly thick, plus it's only just touch dry so it might drop out as it fully hardens, if not I'll just leave it a few weeks then machine Polish it.

Clarkey, what paint are you using? I've been experimenting with this Plasticoat everyone's talking about, so far quite impressed. Not sure about doing the whole car though.
