Good Evening to all,Ah well thats my lot then, went out for a drive with a mate, passed my local scrappy and popped in for a look,no v70s there but there was a late model 96 850 Turbo with most bits still on it, £20 secured me exactly the same Pt No Crank Sensor as was on mine plus a very simmilar looking and fitting, Cam Position Sensor, slightly differant part No but looked the same.Swapped both parts over.Still no spark. Good job i didnt order a new Crank Sensor at over £50.
Recon i have done all i can with the help of all on the site,my thanks to you all. Will post when diognosed. (If the Auto Electrician Finds Anything). Could be the ECU. I'm betting on a broken Wire/Contact some where,we shall see.

See if you can get the ignition switch off it (the scrapyard car) - and have you ruled out the battery? I don't mean just charging it, but actually trying a known good battery?
It's like a whodunnit, now, I'm intrigued as to what's wrong :-) |

I dont know that the Switch will be the same Liu,being of an 850,i actually have one of an early 850 that my lad had, might take mine off to have a look to see if it is the same.
Battery's spinning the engine realy quick, but even if it wasent i would still get a weak spark. Getting no spark from King lead from coil.(have substituted the Coil also).

Is there any possibility you could get somebody with the same model of car and swap bits over until it goes?

Good morning to all,Liuleichan, sorry for the mistake ,no insult intended mate.Would the correct one be Lei then? Malcolm.
Richard,I dont realy know what else to change, all Relays i can easily get to seem to be engaging correctly, had the tops off most of them,Had 3 Cam sensors,2 crank sensors,2coils, 2main relays and a new imobiliser antenna ring.Only thing i havent tested is the back of the ignition switch going to change that with one i have of an 850 later today.I cant see it being the electrical part of the switch as it would have other issues including a no start only fault, everything works at the switch. starter motor/lights/radio ect. Have had the 2 main ecu's out and apart to look for dodgy joints, signs of shorts, nothing apparent.I dont have the knowledge to check them out. Getting in an Auto Electrician in ,later in the Week.

Good Evening All.Well after a trip to my local Dealership,i have a "Possible" ECU problem in that the ECU is not comunicating with the Crank/Cam sensors.
Can any one who has had an ECU repaired recommend any one in this country (i allready know about BBA Reman's) that are good/competant repairers of these units. My dealer wants £500 to fit a new one.thanks Malcolm. P/s after a repair would it just be plug back in and go,or would there be further programing involved?

I'd suggest one possible way forward is to obtain a secondhand ECU.
You could try this straight in the car, if the car then runs and cuts out after about two seconds then it will be because the immobilizer is operating, but at least you will confirm the ECU is the cause of the problem at least cost. I'm not sure if a dealer can reprogramme the ECU to match you immobilizer, but you may find an engine tuner can copy the software from your old ECU(including the immobilizer code) and reflash a secondhand ECU with your original ECU software, the car should then run. |
