Whilst I do not agree with the clampers/ parking firms tactics, landowners have to protect their private property from all the people that would just park there.

What would you do people, if someone parked in your drive at home then went shopping or to work etc?

Regards

Interesting one this weekend.

I was correctly parked in a Disabled Bay displaying the Blue Badge and so was surprised to see a ticket on the car. It's a council ticket - and Stoke do follow up!!

However, when looking at the ticket the registration number is W70 JAA.......my registration number is M70 JAA. They have also put Colour: "Unspecified" - it is clearly Red!

I'm assuming that if I do nothing they can't find me as the DVLA will not be able to give them details of W70 JAA, and even if they try to contact me from the photo's they have undoubtably taken I just say - "not me Guv, go and find W70 JAA"??

Incidently, the reason for the ticket was that I was parked in a Residents Bay........in fact their photo's will show that I was parked in a DB correctly displaying a valid badge.

I'm not expecting any come back on this - but I'll let you know what happens!

Regards all,

Even if they do trace you, the ticket is not legally valid with the wrong number on it.

"Wish I had a drive to be honest."

I suffer from a lack of drive - must be getting old...

Speaking of parking.

In the Matalan car park nearby, you need to pay £1.00 to go in and park. I've used this carpark about 10-12 times and not once did I pay.

Default Update

I've since had 2 letters from another Debt Recovery agent, looks like this invoice is being passed around quite a bit.

The 2nd letters does state they will lodge a claim at court very soon if I don't pay the invoice. I was beginning to get nervous until I re-read this thread and saw what they have put in other letters regarding court action. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showpo...4&postcount=71

As I've took it this far, I may as well keep ignoring it.

Looks like I'm not the only person to receive this letter -

And the advice from Money Saving Expert is to continue ignoring as the invoice was from before 1st October 2012

I didn't know we had one of these threads going.

I'm afraid for my sins I'm a repeat ignorer and non-payer. I don't take the mick with private car parks, I just think the penalty charges are extortionate and the tactics employed by the private parking companies belong in the wild west. I'm especially reluctant to pay when no one has suffered any financial loss but I'm expected to stump up 60 quid. Pardon my French but bugger 'em. And the horse they rode in on.
