now that is all done, we simply tidy it all up, making sure the cables are all shielded correctly fro the main board.

now simply replace the bottom cover, and you have a modded unit
you still need to fool the tape desk as previously descrived the way I still do it, is once you have the unit connected in the car, remove the TOP COVER and manually close the cassette cage. The unit will think there is a cassette in, but there is not. It works on both of my units. Just do not press EJECT or you will have to remove the unit to do it again you can use a BLANK CASSETTE, or one of those mp3 convertors, and just remove the cable, but I find doing it my way works great, as long as I do not press eject

so, now I have a spare unit. I have decided to keep the SC800 in my car, as for some reason the sound is slightly crisper.
So I have a modded SC-801 Premium unit to sell if anyone wants it I will sell this for £40 which inc next day courier delivery to the UK if anyone wants it I will then use this to purchase another unit, and mod it the same if anyone wants one Or I can do this on an exchange basis if you send me your old unit

Hi, I did the tape plan on mine and ran the cable from the tape through the rear and out near the passenger seat coming up on my holders (I'll post a pic)
As for the ejection, is there a way to disable the button. I tried to get the front panel off mine but it didn't play ball. Also, I tried to get the small panel that sits infront of the tape deck to close with the tape in. I probably could if I could get the front off. However, I wouldn't do it unless I could disable the ejection button it would either smash the little panel off or wreck the motor trying...

i find it easier to just DONT PRESS IT
i am sure as long as you can get the front off, you can disable the switch HOWEVER the beauty of this hack, is it still allows you to use the tape deck! not that anyone still does, but it does not disable any part of the unit, unlike the Changer leads that are around, where you loose the cd changer

now, i have been given a CR902 to have a look at, and this one is even easier
if you have one of these, then to add the hack, just remove the TOP, and there you will see on the right of the cassette deck, 3 wires, RED WHITE and BLACK you simply need to tap into these 3 with your lead, [using the capacitors] and you are away, simple. I will look at doing the 900/901 SC series if i ever get one to play with

Bring this one back to life...
I've been having a go with my 805. Unfortunately i was nothing like Bob's 805 PCB wise! I couldn't believe it, so had to use my head instead. Anyway. I had a couple of 10uf caps wired up ready to do some poking. Pretty soon I found a L and R channel and had the ground on the chassis. Via the headphone port on my iPhone it was WAY TOO BASSY. I had the volume on the lowest setting and still it was too loud and bassy. The next thing I tried was going via the line out from a dock (which it what I wanted). This was awful, extremely distorted and rather quiet. I was reasonably annoyed, but found an ok fidelity to come from the cassette adaptor from the line out. I rolled with this and fed the wires out back, down into the ash tray and into the back of an iPhone dock (I'll get some pictures up later). While I was there I also cut up a cigar lighter charger for the iPhone, hardwired that into the loom and plugged the cable into the back of the dock in the ash tray. So now nothing is visible with the ash tray closed, and when you open it, you have a nice dock to put your phone which charges and plays. I was satisfied. BUT... On the way back from work I thought I'd try the set up out on the move... It was fine, but every 5 or so minutes I get the almightyest phone interference. You know the sort, 'deg de de deg de de deg deerrrrr...' It seems to come through full volume and isn't affected by the volume of the HU. So I ask you, is there a way of shielding the Volvo head units? Is the interference with the electronics or the aerial plugged in? Any suggestions gratefully received. - Rich |

i have no real suggestions, as I am yet to look at a 805 head unit myself, but I aim to aquire one soon to test this hack on, and will give you a report
can i ask is your head the grey v/s70 805, or the black 850 805, as it may have a bearing on the insides?

Mine is the black 805 unit from the 850s.
I should have taken some pictures for you all. Theres a matrix of 6 nodes in a black square in the middle of the tape deck's upper PCB in a 2 across by 3 down arrangement. Looking from the front, the top left and the middle left are your L and R channels respectively. I just took the ground as the HU's chassis. Hope this gives you a headstart. Anyway, I'm going to do some further research on sheilding. I will post back what I find. - Rich |

My 1997 V70 came fitted with the grey 805, Ive never seen a black 805 in a V70 unless it was retro fitted, although i may be wrong
