It’ll be back, no doubt! Too perfect can be unusable. I think a buyer wants his motor on the drive not in cotton wool!🤔😎 |

I must say, having glanced through the eBay listing quickly it does appear to be exceptionally clean. |

I have never understood reserves? You have to bid thousands of pounds with no idea if you can actually buy the thing? Surely you simply state the lower figure you would take and hope to get more or you advertise it and let the market find its place? |

It is clean, but theres an even nice 244 with 31000 odd miles with bidding around the 5500 mark at the present. That really is clean, and has the low mileage to go with it.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304278261...53.m1438.l2649 ... it is on its fourth eBay auction: the first one got to £5,100, the second £5,700 and the third £6,100 (on 15 Dec), the reserve was not met in any of the offers. I'm pretty sure there is some shill bidding going on - probably a few mates bidding up the price to just below the reserve in the hope that a genuine bidder steps in at the last mo. I could very well be wrong, but I can't help concluding that 240s just don't make £11,000 (mint ones make £6,000). :-)

Hi,
I've always thought that cars houses music and art all suffer from the same cyclical problem's. In reality possessions are only worth what people are prepared to pay regardless of how rare something is. Greed plays a big part as we have all observed following a specific car on eBay for the umpteenth time with the reserve not met as we all clock up in our heads that by now the car has probably seized to the spot and I'd in no way still drivable but the seller still insist on a high reserve never selling. Worse of all this has the potential to inflate the expectations of sellers or buyers pricing everyone out of an already difficult passtime to get into. No matter how mint the 240 in my eyes a last of the line is not going to be as interesting as an early B20 model and I wouldn't spent 10k on either of them. Just a thought, Scott |
