Default whineing sound

i have a v7xc AWD on a 51 plate a few weeks afo i was dirveing home with the kids and when i reversed onto our drive there was a whineing sound when i put the steering into full lock not would can hear it most of the time even when you first turn the key i phoned hubby and he came and took the car down the rd and agreed there is deffnatley somethink not wright i have asked him if the power steering pump is ok but he said on the test drive the steering was ok all he said to me was it wobbels down the rd so he replaced the bushes in the front wishbone arm on both sides and we are waiting for a rear hub now that has been on order for 2 weeks and still no sign of it. what i would like to know is what would cause the car to feal like it is flotting when traveing at higher speeds like 50+ and is the whineing sound the power sterring pump starting to pack up on me ??

Default Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

Hello, Did replacing the bushings in the wishbones make the car fell any better? How many miles are on your 2001? Worn shocks and struts can cause the floating feeling at highway speeds. They may need renewal. Regarding your power steering; give the fluid a look. Use a plastic baster and suck out the reservoir. Placing the removed fluid in a tin can can help you see its color because it's reflective. There's a good chance your fluid is old and brown. Change it if it is. I coaxed >60K silent miles out of an old, growling P/S pump by flushing it. Use CHF-11S fluid. It's the same as Volvo fluid only cheaper. It sounds like your car is simply asking for some deserved maintenance.
Also, please try to organize your thoughts and sentences a little better. Your post was hard to read. Kira

Default sterring

No changeing the bushes did not make any diffrance it needed them doing anyway. Milage is 189000 i think hubby has the car at the garage at the moment as he is a macanic. As for the power sterring he has told me this afternoon that there is a tiny leak but it is at the top of the bottle as the lid is a bit lose but he is going to check the leavel again. He hates the car but i love it and so do the kids so dont want to sell it as i only got it in jan of this year as it was the only car that went through the snow we had .
