Question '96 850 T5 making strange noises...

Hi all,

My T5 has started making a loud clackety type noise when the ignition is switched on (does it with the engine on or off). Had a quick look under the bonnet, nothing looks amiss and the sound seems to be coming from the passenger headlight area. Car is running fine otherwise. Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks in advance,

Leo.

Possibly the headlight adjustment motor is running constantly (in one direction) and the gear teeth are now slipping over the worm screw threads.

Ah, that would definitely make sense. Presumably I could pull a fuse to stop it before the motor burns itself out?!?

That'd probably stop lots of other things working too. Best just pull the connector off the back of the headlamp motor - this will give you 100% diagnosis too.

Then change the motor......
