Question Poor MPG?

Just bought a 2009 (205) V70 R-design and it is averaging 32mpg. The instantanious reading on motorways varies between 30 and 45 (99 downhill) but around town, admittedly slightly heavy footed, 5-20 mpg up hills from traffic lights. Once moving its between 20 and 33 mpg

My previous 2003 V70 averaged 43mpg and I was hoping for something similar with this newer car but this is noticeably thirstier - was it too much to hope or should I get it checked whilst it has just over 12 months warranty left?

Hi. On my S80 D5 2002 I get around 30-35 MPG around town and on a good A road/motorway I can get 56 MPG. Fantastic I reckon.
