Default whirring esque noise

hi, my 130k miles d5 has just developed a whirring type noise from the pulley side of the engine. Frequency changes with rpm, not road speed.at this mileage is it likely to be the oil or coolant pump, or anything else. thanks richard

It is most likely one of the black plasic wheels on the Aux belt driving the alternator ...

Do not let that noise get any worse!!!!

I was lucky i checked mine when it was making the noise as when i was under the bonnet trying to track said "noise" low and behold the tensioner wheel decided to pop off, just in time for me to shut the engine off.

If these pulleys fail while driving they CAN destroy an engine by damaging the timing belt housing and getting all tangled up.

Get it seen to ASAP just as a precaution.

Yes it was the tensioners, came to £176 for both tensioners (£51 and £37) and a new belt (£23) and labour (£65), then plus the VAT, total of £211.

many thanks
