Default Anti skid - read all the posts and..

I have spent the last hour reading historic posts on the "anti skid service" required message.

What seems to be very common is that this comes on during wet weather.

Similarly, I have been keeping a watchful eye on my own, and after two weeks of not coming on, it came on this morning...after a heavy overnight downpour.

There has to be something in this, but not something I can pick up on.

It all started when I jet washed my wheels. I can only imagine that I have dislodged some sort of sensor and now the damp is getting into it each time it rains.

In simpletons language, can anyone point me in the right direction re removing a wheel and checking around, spraying up with moisture dispersant etc etc...only of course if there is any point. Thanks for all your help.

I done this with mine when i had the same message, took the wheels off, brake disks . . right down to the little black sensor thing. Screwed it out, gave everything a clean and a spray, didn't help.

Dealer done an upgrade on the software, fixed it no problem. Like you though my problem started after i had all the wheels off for a clean.

Hello, It's good to hear that they screw out. Volvo did it right. I had to replace a wheel bearing in another car and the sensor wouldn't come out. I had to do the job tethered closely to the wheel arch. An experienced mechanic came by and said that they never come out. In fact, you'll destroy the sensor attempting to remove it. Thom12: Would you provide the part number of the upgrade the dealer installed and the cost? TIA, Kira

I'll get the part number tonight, think the cost was around 100 pounds.
