Default radiator on 440

Hi,

My 440 positively drinks water. Ive tried Radweld though this doesnt make a great deal of difference. Sometimes there seems to be no leak and it retains water and sometimes it seems to flow from the radiator.

The car is getting on now and apart from this problem it is a reliable vehicle.

Should I just invest in a new radiator and if so is this an expensive job?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Mark

it could be a perished hose that only opens up sometimes as its not always leaking (only a guess)

Thumbs up

any garage, indy or dealership will pressure test the cooling system. this takes 10 seconds. finding the leak will take longer, maybe 5 mins

Thumbs up radiator

It is relatively easy to change the radiator.I have just done so on mine. It is a good idea to just check the hoses are not perished and the clips are all tightened. It could be a slow leak into the drivers side floor which is what i have found with mine and this is from the heating system. It is possible to get replacement parts from uk bizarre automatic search of parts that can be sent for little cost.I dont have much faith in the radweld you can usually see if the leak is from the radiator by removing the the middle frame between the two headlights under the boinnet and then the front geille lifts out easily. Hope this helps

After a journey, switch off engine and look under front bumper where the radiator is - see if you can see any drips around there - the hoses into and out of the rad are known to split after after a while.
