Default Front Parking Sensors

(Sorry to post this on the XC90 forum but I think it is more widely read than the V70 forum. I also have just bought a 2011MY XC90 Exec and had dealer fitted parking sensors and they work perfectly)

I have a 2008 V70 T6 which I recently purchased second hand from a Lexus dealer.

A couple of weeks ago, I took it to my local Volvo to retrofit front parking sensors. They fitted the sensors but did not bother to properly check them i.e.

1. They got the driver side and passenger side wiring the wrong way round.
2. The sensors went off the whole time when one was in slow traffic, even if the car in front was several metres away.
3. The sensors go off it you are at a junction which is slightly downhill or go over a speed bump.

I took the car back to the dealer and they sorted out 1. But they are claiming that 2 & 3 are within the realms of normality. I disagree and have told them not to return the car to me until it is sorted.

If I can figure out how to do it, I will upload some footage on youtube.

Has anyone else had this issue? I have had several cars with parking sensors and they only went off when the car was in close proximity (2 feet or less) not when a car is 20 ft away.

Many thanks in advance

Mine work when the vehicle or obstruction is about 3ft from the car bumper - except:-
1. Passing motorcyles (overtaking me) can set off the beep
2. Overtaking buses (single deckers) do the same ie set off the beep.

Gives me a bit of a "moment" caused by the unexpected beep.

It is not the proximity of the bikes or buses, but I suspect unshielded electrical emissions may be to blame.

Excessive spray can also do it, as can exhaust smoke/fumes on cold days occasionally.

I dont mean to sound cheeky, but do you mind if i ask how much getting the parking sensors fitted costs? I'd quite like to get them fitted into the back bumper of mine. Cheers.

I am not sure. The Lexus dealer said they had them when they sold it to me (I didn't look at it before I bought it as I was returning to the UK from abroad).

When I saw the physical car, it didn't have them. The Lexus dealer them got a Volvo dealer to install them and paid them direct, so I am not sure of the cost.
