Smile Rear tailgate lock failure

My 2001 V70 estate tailgate lock will not open with remote. Has anyone got any idea as to how to open, I can see the lock from inside.

Regards

The Count

You are not alone! My 2002 52 V70 has just decided to do exactly the same.... Is this a common fault and one that is easily sorted??

If the lock has failed in the lock position you could be in trouble, the screws to take the cover off on the inside will be out of view with the tailgate closed :-S

Once you've got the tailgate open it will either be a fault lock/motor assembly or broken wiring loom on the left hinge. I went through the moves of buying a new lock and fitting it only to find out it was actually the loom - so check this first!

Do a forum search. I recall reading, some time ago, an extended thread on this issue. There was a way to open it by depressing an internal "spoon". Also details of wiring breaks.
