940-740 seats?

Good day all. I was wondering will 940 seats (front and rear) fit a 740? in theory, yes because there technically the same car. Ive just bought a full leather interior with electric front seats from a 1994 940 SE turbo for £10. Result! but will it fit in my tired 1989 740 GL?

Shouldn't have any problem. 960 seats fit in a 940 also.

Not quite, I know that at least for estates, the rear seats change. The difference means that if you'd want to fit the other type, you'll need to weld on some new brackets.

The head rests and the centre armrest change, which is the easy way to spot the difference.

Please let me know if these seats fit without too much hassle. I'd like to find leather for my 740. If anyone has any I'd go mad and pay over a tenner.

Hi Paul,

I have leather in my 1986 2.3 740 GLE but it's way too good to break.

Even for more than a tenner.!!!

I don't blame you on that one. If you can be bothered, I'd love to see some pictures of the interior. I'm trying to get a feel for the differences in trim 740,760,940,960.
