Default V40 engine running issues

Hi There I am new to the forms so bear with me I eed some advice and would be grateful for any suggestions.
I have owned a 2000 V40 1.8 se manual for just under one year. Since taking delivery I noticed the car was suligish, and the fuel economy was very low (28-30 mpg), eventually the engine began to play up more when the car had been standing in traffic queues, finaly the management light came on, the dealer took several attempts to solve it and greatly improved it with the replacement of the plugs & an air flow sensor. After this was done the car started to play up intermittantly mainly after start up for the first 2-5 miles the car will either not accelerate above 2K rpm or it will kangaroo down the road, it has ben back to the dealer several times and they tell me that's how the car is I do not believe them. Last September the car had its service and now it stalls quite often unless you give it lots of revs and you dare ot pull out into traffic for frar of being tee boned. I have improved matters a little by replaceing the volvo plugs with champion precious metal plugs, but you still need to put you foot down hard to go anywhere.
Any Ideas will be appreciated, & sorry for the length of the saga.
