Default 960 Handbrake Ajustment.

Hi,have looked up how the hand brake is ajusted but,none has explained clearly how the ashtray mounting plate is removed to reveal the large plastic ajuster nut,thats behind it.Has anyone ajusted theirs lately?I have tryed leavering it out but, i recon i will break it if i persist,it seems to be held in prity solidly.thanks for your help.

As you where now sorted,after removing ashtray,there are two plastic tabs at the bottom of the ashtray anchor plate,you lift these up while levering out at the base,when the bottom of the plate is dislodged,you then leaver out at the top,to remove it.Once out, you can then see the large ajuster nut.Screw in clockwise to tighten.

That particular 'plate' has some fairly strong plastic clips that hold it in place. Mine was removed just last Sunday and replaces OK after the handbrake was adjusted. If you can feel for the clips with a slim screwdriver you should be able to gently lever them aside to pop the plate off.

(If you break them in the process I never wrote this!)

Job is going fine - it is just trying to find where the good garages are down here (in case I need an item quickly fitted).
