I know in simple terms a little about heads.

B23 E (early 240 GLT Pre 86) has the hottest normally aspirated cam but I can't remember what the cam is stamped up as, Might be V???. These heads are fuelled by K jet fuel injection so the k jet wholes would need filling for application on Motronic or LH jetronic.

B23 ET (early 760 Turbos pre 86) high interference engine, Forged internals, super strong engine. Head number is 407 very hot engine. Down side is there few and far between and the distributer is in the wrong place for use in later 7's and 9's These I believe come with a D cam.

B230 ET (post 86 740-760 turbo's) these all come with the best head option for post 87 turbo cars. The 531 although the gains really are marginal over the standard 530 unless you intend to have the head worked!!!

A list of Cams and where to find them would be very useful

Thats a very interesting but still inconclusive list. narrows it down a bit though.

So I guess my B230 ET is either an "A" cam or a "T" cam. Now I've got the head off it I'm almost tempted to pull the cam out and see if its got a stamp on it. Fingers crossed for an "A"

Interestingly My 23ET could have an "A" "B" or "T" in it.

Also I've got either a spare A or K cam in the garage that I removed from a 240 GLT years ago. I Think it was a Y plate but I can't be sure. It was definitely a B23E as it had a silver top engine. Unfortunately there is no stamp on the cam :-(

There should be a stamp on the cam, it could be hidden under some oily gunk. It's on the rear face of the cam.

The B230ET should have an A cam. The T cam came in later turbo cars (B230FT/FK and B200 equivalents)

My 1988 240GLT came with a V cam, which I though was an A at first until I cleaned the gunk off the stamp. Putting that cam into my 1993 240SE (B200F engine/M cam) gave me a useful increase in power, it felt almost like a restrictor had been removed, right through the rev range.

The K cam is also a good one - similar to a V cam but more top end at the expense of low-down torque. According to those in the know, V, K and VX are the ones to have (which one depends on your driving style)

Both the list I printed and the turbobricks list show the B230ET as having an A cam. Funny how the B230A got the same cam. Also, my list is from a 740/760 manual.
