Default 10 mph very minor vibration

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2007 year S60R six speed auto. This will be my 4th Volvo and whilst aware it had a few things that needed replacing straight away, like the steering wheel stops and inner wheel arch well due to wheel rub, it has been largely a fab experience.

I used to have a Passat R36, 3.6 300BHP DSG so can tell you right now that the R holds its own.

The car has just had to have the over the engine pipe replaced as it broke loose from one of the securing feet??? The car also has 56k miles on the clock and has always been serviced at Volvo, most recent 100 miles ago where it came out with a clean bill of health.

My minor issue is while driving in traffic at around 10mph, I get a very tiny vibration felt through the steering wheel which is also present if I rev the car slightly when at a stand still. The vibration last for such a short time/power band although the warmer the engine gets the more pronounced it seems, although I am being a tad fussy here as it's not really bad.

An 'R' qualified tech drove the car for some time with me and said there is nothing that could make this better and that a small amount of vibration was normal at this speed and whilst revving, is that the experience of most R owners out there?

Everything has been checked from bushes and bearings through to rotars etc and all seems ok.

I have heard though that the top engine mount can be a weak spot, at 56k miles would it be worth changing this hoping this might improve the vibration?

Any thoughts would be most welcome,....

What was the R36 like? Always fancied one of those - my wife has a great Passat and I've always wondered what their best version was like!

To be honest the R36 was fairly good, mainly down to the twin clutch dsg auto box, handling was only ok although it didn't have as much torque as it needed. I believe it was 258flbt vs the R's 295. It was major un reliable and had loads go wrong, luckily within warranty!! It's an ok car, not a great car and I'd say the R is far better as an all over package especially for mid range pull and the R also seems to handle better. MPG wise, both about the same.
