Default How to replace the servo/brake booster?

Right, I need to replace the brake booster because it has a pin hole leaking air in.

My other post dealt with replacing the master cylinder http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=69744 and I am confident to do that.

How do I replace the brake booster/servo? Haynes says I need to go to a Volvo dealer as its too complicated.

As far as I can see I release the servo from the pedal and unbolt the servo from inside of the car. Then remove it and replace with a new sealing ring? Why does the subframe have to be lowered? There seems to be enough clearance under the bonnet. Maybe I am wrong.

Has anyone ever done it?
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

Did you change your servo in the end? I would agree with you that there looks to be enough room behing the engine to do so without dropping the subframe etc.

It is something I may well have to do too.

Regards,

Dave
