I don't know much about the really late cars (they stopped shipping to the states in '68). Did the 1970's only have one horn? The earlier cars had two (that sounded from the same circuit).

Lots of the original ones have died by this day in age. The guy (George M.) who runs the 123gt registry published a guide about rebuilding the originals in the Australia Volvo owners magazine about a year ago. It might be up on the web some place. This might help you.

I just checked out a wiring diagram and it seems that the 1970, only had one horn mounted on the left hand side. All Amazon horns should be bosch (at least I still have the original) and they are pretty easy to fix.

If you get a chance, open your horn, clean off any dirt, and remove the points and clean them. Sanding the points fixes the whole problem. Then there is an adjusting screw on the back of the horn (adjust to whatever sounds good). In order to adjust it, hook the horn directly up to the battery and turn the rear adjustment screw until the horn makes a sound. Set the horn to its absolute highest pitch, in order to really scare people.

If you want a replacement instead, check out Hella Supertones.

Default Thanks All

I've just bought a bosch horn off e-bay....but it hasn't arrived yet. Looks like the right sort of vintage and is new old stock so should be ok....
