How are you finding your fuel consumption? I put £40 in the car and managed just to get 150 miles out of it. Is this normal? I can drive 6 miles to somewhere and back and notice that the fuel gauge has gone down.

That's about 19 to the gallon based on £1.20 a litre for petrol. Combination driving (town/traffic and open road) would be about right. Depending on how heavy your foot is and how much was in traffic/town.

i got 250 miles out of 3/4 of a tank with "aggressively mixed" driving, mostly motorway driving. this was in one journey yorkshire to stirling then to glasgow (the only long trip i did with it)

Slow (mine would pull up to about 10 mph less than my B200FT, itself about 10 mph less than either my B234F or my B230ET) on my test climb, and very thirsty (I never got over 20 mpg and that was doing a steady 60 on the motorway) and fragile (lent it to my friend Don and he melted the engine, quite literally) and about 10 million incompatible exhaust variants and that's before you get to link pipe (between manifold and main exhaust) but I nic erumbling noise if you remove a couple of silencer boxes.

Dont go there.

I'd say that was about right. I had one a few years ago and never did much better than about 20 mpg. Put into perspective I used to get broadly similar consumption from a mercedes 420se. It's one reason why they are not popular, a Volvo that's even thirstier!

Had a '90 760 GLE with B280E when I was in Taiwan, the best I've managed to squeeze out of that car was 27.9 mpg (ImpGal not USGal), that was cruising late night on the motorway with the cruise control. Average around town about 15 mpg although my worst record shows only 11.6 mpg!!

Sounds like I might hold a record then with my 780 and its B280E engine at 30.3mpg...

This was achived by doing approx 70-75mph using cruise, climate on, 2 people, full tank + boot back from BKV this summer.

MPG in town I do not wish to know, but I can say is that the car is not very happy doing town driving. This engine is very lazy and like a long relaxed cruise down the motorway.
