Coolant Drain
I'm going to drain the coolant in my 940, so I had a look in the Haynes manual. It tells me to take the coolant drain plug out of the engine block, I can't find any photo's of where the bolt is. Can anyone tell me? My 940 is the 2.3 SE estate, naturally aspirated, red block. Thanks

The drain plug is brass. It is located on the exhaust side of the engine towards the back fairly low down backward from the alternator.

Hi,
There is also a drain **** down there with a pipe connection and shut-off action to allow you to attach a length of hose and then use a 10mm spanner to release your coolant.. This should be on a pipe in roughly the same area. Des. . .

From what I remember way back when I had a couple of 940 Wentworths there is also a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator on the drivers side just below the bottom hose, it doesn't need to be screwed all the way out as its purpose is to drain the cooling system... and if you do have one on the bottom of the rad it is much more controllable when draining and you get 99.9% of the coolant in a container and not your driveway
when I drained my system I took the drian plug out all together and lightly coated it with PTFE grease (petroleum jelly is a good substitue) as they do get a little stiff on the threads as it's only plastic, and with the repeated heat cycle they go through they get quite brittle

Ahh, wish I had known this, I just pulled the main hose of the bottom of the rad and let it all fly out! lol.

Thanks for the info. I found the brass plug, took it out and then realised it is in 2 parts. It was an absolute swine to get back in. Having hands the size of shovels and being riddled with arthritis didn't help, it's took me 2 days to recover. My wife gave me hell for doing the job myself. She can't understand the feeling you get doing the job yourself. It's a man thing.
