Ignition Barrel
Hi - I acquired a 1970 144 auto a few months back and promptly put it into a shed until I figured out what to do with it. The intention so far was to put a B 2.3 into it but since ressurecting the car last weekend I've started enjoy it! It might just end up a resto now.
There is however a niggling problem. The car starts great, runs great. It won't always start after its been on a run. My initial thoughts were battery leads and these have been replaced. I'm starting to think the problem is not so much temperature related. The ignition switch os worn (I can pull the keys out when it ti running!) I'm pretty much sure that the fault is down to the switch. Has anybody else encountered this? My next point is that if I really want to conclude this I'd reckon the obvious think would be to 'hot wire' the car when it will not start off the key. Does anybody see any problems with this? This would at least rule out any issues with the starter inhibitor switch. BTW - Shift is column mounted. Thanks Scott |
