Hi Bazzz
Dont know about your brake situation, but the little orange bulb that goes out when you press the brake pedal is the bulb check light-if you depress it and the light stays on, it means some where, you have a bulb out. If it goes out, then all your bulbs are fine.

Dan.

Do check that the bulbs are of the correct voltage, the back ones that are running lights should be 12v/5w and not 10w, a mistake often made that will give the same effect that you describe, light on all the time. Another option is the rear light clusters are worn, My father also had this, a new set from Hildenborough Volvo sorted that and Hey Presto!! no warning light again on the dash}(

It may be worth bearing in mind that on older 440s the bulb failure warning light can come on if the headlamps are blown also.

Cheers,
Dan.

I have the same little bulb light displ;ayed on my dash - always on. I thought that the bulb rating for the normal lights at the back are 10W? Says in the book - please clear this up for me.
Many thanks in advance.
