Fuel Saving Devices
Has anyone tried these 'Fuel Saving Magnets', that you clamp over the fuel line on your car, they are claimed to reduce emmissions, promote better starting, increase power, and increase mpg, all for under £30:00.
Would be interested to hear from anyone that has had any success with these devices, was thinking of trying one out on my 940 turbo, but if results are no good, might just save my pennies. Kev240 |

RE: Fuel Saving Devices
Hi there,
I fitted one to my 240 a while ago and have since fitted one on my other Volvo (flash bastard are'nt I )which is a v40. I have posted more details on the 240 forum and you will find all the griff on there. There is also a site where you can get them for a fraction of the £30 you've been looking at. Regards Vaughan |

RE: Fuel Saving Devices
Hello again,
I had a look and the entry has been took off due to the time it's been on there. Below is the address where you can get ones like the ones I fitted.which gives you 2 other sites to order from I think they were about £4 each, which is worth the outlay and certainly better than £30 !!. A few weeks after fitting mine on the 240 the tickover went up to the point where I had to slow it down at the tickover screw (it's a 230f with a cisak carb fitted). It seems more responsive and the fuel consumption was always very good anyway. If you fit one then don't rely on the o rings to hold it on as they will rot and fall off and then goodbye magnet. Fit it as close to the carb or injectors you can on a steel or plastic pipe and what I did was tape it together and then put a cable tie over the tape. The o rings fell off after a few weeks and it's not worth fitting them,it's probably the heat as the magnets and rings are not designed for heat. Don't think o rings should stand the heat as there are lierally hundreds of o ring materials for different applications. http://www.smartcar-owner.co.uk/Low%...el%20Saver.htm |

RE: Fuel Saving Devices
You may like to read comments which a research agency in the USA did on these products. They are basically a complete waste of money!!
Use this link. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2002/04/energysurf2002.htm You'd be better keeping the money for a good service. :-) |

RE: Fuel Saving Devices
Well I have no axe to grind and it certainly did, and is still, making a difference to mine.
Why not save even more and do the service yourself?. It's hardly a high tech setup and should be capable by anyone with an iota of sense and minimum tools. |
