Default Sat Nav

Does anyone know how the at Nav system handles Traffic Management?

When I use it, I often get TMC on the screen. However when I select read Messages from the menu there are no messages to read. How can I tell where it believes the accident is.

Hi,
I find the sat nav to be slightly odd. Basically, the TMC will flash a message on you screen if it is a very significant event.Otherwise only with certain icons (eg ,, a short yellow arrow)can you read a message which if I remember, you can bring up by pressing enter on the enter buttom.Do you find the sat nav manual as useless as I do?

Cheers

Sat nav is frustrating... like Jeffo... I do not understand what the TMC icon means. When I see it and read traffic message, it is empty.
Sometimes, it just say "traffic, alternative route proposed, yes/no" without any details.

Also, can someone make sense on the yellow arrows on the Sat nav path? They make the screen cluttered for nothing. What are they for?

Agree, the users manual is very unclear. But there is worse. Has anyone tried to make sense of the on call manual? Must have been translated from Swedish using google!

Back to sat nav, more frustrating is mapping. Not great. I think Navtek does not have the sales volume of tomtom and cannot afford the same level of details. Poor choice from Volvo... maybe one day they will upgrade us to tomtom software!

My understanding is the system is "thinking" when the TMC logo comes up. i spend my working week in central London and the "thinking" TMC has got me out of many a situation. It won't display messages if is nothing to say. It's just recalculating the best route from the information it receives.

That's my understanding......
