Default 1993 960 Cabin Air Filter

I had to make repairs on the aircon system of my 960, a leaking hose between the compressor and the condensor, and a leaking evaporator. When I took the evap out it was easy to see where the leak was and it also confirmed the source of the smell coming into the cabin. The PAG oil used in a/c systems is not very nice stuff and, when mixed with the flourescent dye and put in the air flow to mature, smells dreadful. However thats all fixed now but it was time to put in an air filter to prevent all the usual muck from getting into the system. I think I'm right in saying that Volvo only started with cabin air filters on the 850 series and 900 (and 700's?) dont have one. There is not a lot of space under the windscreen tray. However undeterred, I found in Halfords a small enough cabin filter and have simply stuck it ontop of the round rubber shield and it works fine. You have to be careful to position it just right to clear the moulding on the tray but it seems OK. When the time comes to replace, just pull it off as it is only stuck with silicon sealant.
