One difference not mentioned is that the 850R and T5-R suspension is different - the T5-R is harsher than an 850R.

I think you should assume that you'll have to renew the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) and BCS (Boost Control Solenoid) hoses - the PCV ones get blocked by sludge and carbon residues causing running problems and ultimately the rear main seal to blow, whereas the BCS vacuum hoses degrade with age and also cause running problems. The PCV kit is about £70 from Rufe, the BCS hoses you can buy by the meter (5mm vacuum or fuel hose) - one metre is enough to do all three BCS hoses.

Check the dampers - if it has self levelling suspension, the rears cost around £450 the pair, with the fronts around £200 the pair... The strut top mounts are about £50 a pair.

Tyres should be 205/45x17 - they're not cheap, but you can fit larger (and cheaper) 215/45x17 tyres. Just fit the blue C70 bump stops to stop the tyres rubbing the arch liners on full lock.

Check that the engine management warning light illuminates when you turn the ignition to position II, but goes out when the engine is started - the MAF sensor is over £200 even from Rufe. Don't get a pattern MAF - they don't last long. The lambda sensor is around £100. Don't fit universal ones, as while they may work, they often still set the engine management light.

The 850R is a great car, especially in auto form, but make no mistake - its a high maintenance and thirsty car.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the break down in costs. I'm used to thirsty cars so that won't be a problem.
