V70XC: - Angle gear

I have a 1999 V70 xc with suspect angle gear and have drawn a blank on parts search engines. Volvo want £700 for replacement!! Does anyone know if refurb units or if any second hand about? The volvo specialist said its ok to remove propshaft and run fwd only. I have also looked on US forums and it seems that they can get individual spare parts for the angle gear assy but they were for the next generation XC70.
Any advice appreciated.

If you wish i can get details for you of a few XC's that are been broken at the moment

I'm on the hunt for one too, so would welcome any responses. Pacman put me onto a guy in Skipton who I'm waiting to hear back from. I also know the XC advertised on eBay in Lancashire has one because I was going to take it. Unfortunately, it's one that has the slightly earlier output flange.

Crobba - you'd better budget for the sleeve that drives the angle gear from the gearbox because it may well be knackered too - I just got one from Volvo - £100!!

I have removed propshaft and whining has stopped from angle gear and I have found a volvo breakers local to me in West Bromich who I found on ebay and they are currently breaking a xc. They have said the angle gear is ok but it is not removed from the car yet so I am going to see them tommorow. They want £200. Also I am keen to strip a unit apart to see whats causing the whine.
I will also need to check its the correct part for my car! It does seem that my sleeve has not failed as the awd was working when I booted it in the snow last week!!
