Try taking it off again, drive along in a straight line, and swerve from side to side, careful, make sure you catch it. Now refit it and try the exercise again, now you'll know it works. I think you'll find that all the new performance Volvo's come as standard with a strut brace, to be sure the V70 D5 does, yes D5.

"drive along in a straight line, and swerve from side to side" LOL! :D cracking idea! Not exactly normal driving conditions is it? :D
I must admit the journey into work so far has been quite busy but I`m on late shift today & the roads will be quieter tonight on the way home so I`ll try it then (no I`m not taking it off & weaving down the road like a ****ed up 17 year old ;) ) |

I certainly wasn't amazed either. It ranks along side the excitement gained from fitting a performance air filter but as I said in a previous post these aren't expensive mods and there is some limited improvement. Save up for that suspension kit I mentioned, without question it will greatly improve the handling and is a good price for what you get.

It isnt going to make a blind bit of difference to your driving 'experience' in a straight line or driving 'normally' on the way to work. It isn't going to turn your car into a coilovered BTCC racer but you know that, surely.
Try some hard driving around some tight corners or big roundabouts (3am in the morning is a good time- less collateral damage) or even on the track for the more PC amongst us. That's when you might notice its presence. Mine made a huge difference to under steer, more than £70 should have. That was the first mod though... the start of an addiction... x( Cheers :+ |

well after a "spirited" drive home from work last night I did actually notice at least £70 worth of difference to the turn in & front end grip of the car.
So I`m quite happy with that! :D Thanks for all your comments :D ....what next now I wonder? RICA? big brakes? new wheels? A good wash? ;) |

Glad you're happy. I think we can thus conclude, in answer to the original question that strut braces are worth fitting.
