Hi all,Seen a test on here somewhere for testing the Crank shaft sensor itself with a Multimeter,cant find it, does any one know where its hiding?Alternativly,can someone tell me how to do it,i do have details how to check the circuit its on though.

Crankshaft sensor should have a resistance of around 250 ohms between the two terminals. Each terminal should have a high (Meg Ohms) resistance to ground.
Voltage output at idle should be around 1.6 V AC, it will be lower on cranking. |

Hi Chris,
Resistance between the two terminals:- At 2K Setting=.276 Koms. Resistance to ground both terminals one at a time:- No Resistance at 200K setting. Voltage at Cranking only,Setting 2V AC Scale .221v.That was forming a loop with the two contacts of the Sensor one to the Red and one to the black probes of the Multimeter and turning the engine over.

Seems OK to me.
I've got no figures for the output under cranking but the figure you got does not surprise me. |
