Default brake hose

I might farm it out to my local volvo specialist as the drivers side flexi hose connects to the brake pipe which goes behind the engine/steering rack from the abs unit on the passenger side so there will be a lot of faffing. Before that I'll try plus gas and some heat to see if i can move the unions

As Five Alive says, try to avoid heat, brake fluid is flamable. Decent spanners and getting a good grip on it is the answer. If your going to replace componants, which it sounds like you will have, you could allways grip with a decent pair of mole grips.

Never ever use heat on a crimped rubber brake pipe , as said above it will explode like a bomb spraying you with hot brake fluid which is flamable , there is a pocket of air in the crimped rubber pipe joint !
Two decent pairs of mole grips is probably the answer to this problem ...

ill 2nd clans sage comment about heat/brake pipes/hoses.

as for the OP's problem , very same thing on my s40 (rear left tho) compounded by previous owner/mUckhanic *deliberate* rounding the nut flats off.

replace the pipe and new hose would be my suggestion for best method if you cant get a good grip. Wont cost much at the longest one on mine was £20 all done from local spare parts shop.

Default stuck flexi hose

I don't really want to go down the route of replacing the entire brake pipe because its the one which goes behind all the engine/firewall and routes somewhere above the steering rack. Will farm this one out for ease.

The brake flexi hose if it burns can form acid [hydrofluoric acid] and as I don't have access to a full ramp thats another reason to farm it out.

IF anyone in Norwich wants to come over and do it for me for a fee then feel free.
