sorry central locking yet again!
On the console of my 440 there is a switch that locks or unlocks all the doors this has recently become defunct. The switch is ok. My problem is that I cannot find the central locking module. I have looked behind the glove box and found a mass of wires, connectors of different colours and what looks like a relay. Where is it? there is no information in Haynes (as usual). Any information on this elusive area would be most welcome.

Your fuse box under the steering colum, its above that. Infact you can see the four screw plugs below the wiper stalk you cant miss it!!! Remove the 2 screws in your fuse holder and pull aside, then simply put your hand up onto the box. It is 2 minutes work! - Its a grey box about the size of your hand and will easily unplug. To note.. Joined to the control box wiring plug you will also see a loose single wire plug, do not connect this up as it has something to do with the open door hazard light, causing it to stay on...
If your switch is defunct I would first reset the central locking module using the under bonnet self diagnostics. Does the remote central locking still work? Last edited by carl4u44; Nov 5th, 2009 at 23:49. |

thanks CARL 4U44. I will try that. As for the remote locking this was disabled a few years ago when the immobiliser was disabled. It was cutting out the engine randomly and the vehicle electrics garage in cutting out the problem also disabled the remote. The central locking does work with the key but very occasionally fails. Removing and replacing the immobiliser fuse invariably puts this right.

You can then reprogram your own key fobs to it and, if needed, reprogram it to activate your alarm or not. I can send you a link on this post on how to do that if you need just say! |
