Default What to watch for when buying an 850

Hi
I've had a 460 for a while now, but need something bigger from the Volvo stable. I'd like an 850 estate and was wondering if there was anything in particular to look out for when deciding which (issues, known problems, which engine etc)

Any help would be most appreciated
Peter

I won't be towing, main use is as a load lugger for trips across Europe with the family which pretty much rules out a T5. What are the petrol engines like for adding an LPG conversion? Obviously diesel is more economical, but never having driven a Volvo diesel - are they smooth or more agricultural? Which is considered more reliable

Hello

Our diesel took 3 kids and a roofbox across France, cruising at 80mph, and averaging 48mpg. Conversations were spoken not shouted - there was more noise from the peage road surfaces than from the diesel.

I know we call it the "Lorry", but...

In my experience of 850/V70 adding LPG is expensive and you are unlikely to find an 850 with low enough miles to justify the cost. If you can find one already converted make sure lpg been regularly checked/serviced. Ask for certificates.Diesels brilliant and smooth 5cyl and should get 40 - 50mpg. Getting pricey to buy. 850 a bit harsher ride as V70 had improvements. As usual FSH is best. Check MOT duration , I have been caught a few times as suspension bushes/arms, drive shaft gaitors, tyres and brakes all take a pounding as its a big car and you can rack up a £500 bill easily!.
