440 B18U wont start
the engine will not start unless i use the throttle and does not idle untill its warm. I hope someone can help

I'd first read for any fault codes. It might be either the motor temperature sensor or air temperature sensor. But it'd probably be the idle control valve. Could be just dirty and needs cleaning.

I'd suspect the idle stepper motor has stopped working and has stuck in the warm engine position. Sometimes they stick in the cold position, in which case the engine starts normally when cold but races once it has warmed up.
This is a stock fault with the B18U engine. I had two strepper motors replaced on mine. It's not a difficult job to swap them. Sometimes they may respond to the connections being cleaned and if you are careful, they can be dismantled and cleaned internally but it doesn't always work. Hope this is of some help Martin |
