I would vouch for that too .. there is a huge difference in wind resistance between 60 mph and 80 mph although it seems just as effortless to drive .

My 2002 S60 D5 has a Dragon tuning box on it (set at max bhp which about 195ish). It refuses to show lower than 45mpg no matter how silly I am. Motorway driving shows 55+
Btw anyone got any views on how an external remap affects the fuel computer? I would have thought changing the fueling after the onboard cpu has done its job might cause a mis-read. Can't be that far off though as I'm not returning to the pumps anymore than I use to.

These cars are brilliant on runs. my AIM is to hit 800+ miles on 1 tank this year. FWIW - i dont trust the Average & instant readings on the DIM. |

ive done over 800 miles on a single tank, thats mostly motorway driving but not at silly low speeds, all around the speed limit, went to a meeting the other day 130 miles away and averaged 70.9 mpg, although I was early so driving quite slowly....

Ive just got back from Bordeux, France.
Round trip we covered 2050 miles. This includes 90% Motorway miles at usually 80MPH, sometimes abit slower, sometimes abit faster and also sitting in traffic in the local towns etc. According to the DIM, the average fuel consumption was 48MPG. 2005 Volvo S60 D5 with RICA Remap. The car was also pretty heavy as you can see from the pics below. Last edited by MileMuncher; Sep 2nd, 2009 at 12:10. Reason: Pic Upload. |

Back on topic my old man drives a v70 d5, he recently drove from darkest devon to kent and back with a full load and towing a trailer without filling up and still had alot left in the tank! Can't remember what his mpg reading was but it really puts it into perspective what they are capable of mpg wise! |
