RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
Opps My Bad!
Been so busy with a brain melting job over the last couple of days I have completely lost the plot! Stupid thing is when I was pronouncing it in my head (as Dutch) I could see the muppet chef.... Oh well, I guess that means it's time to go home! Stu |

RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
james ,
you dont need to buy the kit , you can make it ! turbo manifold , downpipe which youll have to manufacture anyway , turbo , wastegate , plumbing and an intercooler , rising rate fuel pressure . cracked it in a roundabout way . Tune the carb with a file ie , file the needle down. oil feed comes from oil pressure switch on bloch , return back into the sump (this was a 3/4 inch tube which was welded into sump a la R sport) . Ive got some pics - send me your email - ill forward them to you .

RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
Hi mate, been keeping my head down, been working hard on 360, fitting a roll cage at present, the engine mount your on about, I used and engine bracket off early 760, and reinforced the subframe (which the antiroll bar connects too) and made a bracket to mount the engine too the subframe, just like it is on the 1.7 340's, but still used normal mount on nearside, you have to do this because the turbo hits original mount. The 440 brake arnt that much better, I used BMW 325i discs on mine, they fit over the wheel studs perfect and because its flush with the wheel it loses its heat better, i used bmw calipers which I made brackets to bolt to the caliper to the strut with no hassle, this brakes are unreal, handles track speeds like 150mph to 30mph no problem, the balance is great with no further mods, rear drums cope no problem, never let me down and never overheat, only changed shoes once. so in my opinion this brakes dont need doing! Mark higgins 360 has got rear disc brakes so it can be done with a lot of work. if you need longer studs then use 740 studs and nuts, there longer and compensate the disc. the only downside with bmw disc is you will need 15inch wheels, bmw can fit 14in but i couldnt, but hay who cares, I will be taking a wheel off soon so email me if you want me to email a picture, james if you need a doner car I know 2 scrapies in bristol who have loads of doner cars, they usaully want £150 - £200, me and mark got one last week, as were building an 16v turbo for marks 360. theres loads out there

RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
Hi Kev!
Yeah, if you could take a pic of your brake setup that'd be cool. I think I already have one, but it's not too clear, so any more would be helpful! When you say a donor car, do you mean a 740/760, or the 360? That 16v turbo ought to go like crazy - 350BHP+? I guess now's the time to buy one of these - it won't be too long before the supply of cars dries up, and the price rises. If I had the space I would have 2 360s, a 340 (to be fitted with a 440 turbo motor), an Amazon (to be fitted with the B200 from the 360), and a 700 turbo or two to use as donors. Sadly, parking for one extra car (which will be the one 360 I have by the time its mine!) will be enough of a struggle, never mind 6!! cheers James

>Hopefully the 440 has big vented disks. Does anyone know if
>this can definitely be done as a direct swap for the 360 ones? >How about FWD / RWD difference? I have the disc setup of my crashed 440 if you want. They are 256mm vented discs with ATE calipers (same as 2.0 16V Vauxhalls and many others). I have EBC Turbo Groove discs with the same setup on my new 440. Seemed to cope well with repeated 100-30 tests the other night. :-) Also have the full disc setup for the rear too. 2xxmm solid discs or something. |

RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
Hi Chris,
This may be of interest, at least as a reasonably 'factory' upgrade, requiring minimal work. What sort of money do you want for them, and where are they located? cheers James

RE: 360 turbo - making it happen!
Hi Chris,
Although thats a fair price, I think I will stick to looking for scrappers at the moment, as I need various other bits too (alloys, engine). I might even try to find a scrap car to take bits from. cheers James
